Mind you, I probably wasn't very capable of testing tonight due to a long week and just being tired. I've tested it with the Eizo test, - gamma calibraiton, - sharpness and testufo per JackCYs instructions. I feel like colors are good but I might be biased since I'm coming from an old TN screen. I felt like something was off in the bottom part of the screen and suspected back light bleed. Just browsing and a bit of Rocket League. I've played around a bit with the monitor now. Semi gloss, almost gloss, what ever the name is the way to go if they don't want to do moth eye. It's really a shame how many nicer monitors get matte surface. Hopefully they also don't turn back to using matte surfaces. I would wait for the Innolux and see if they resolve at least some issues with that change or they keep messing things up in their firmware postprocessing to annoy people.
But yes if you can't live with tearing then sure a finally more properly done sync is nice than the Vsync nonsense we had so far. VRR is not a game changer and it does have it's still unresolved issues at least Gsync does, it will literally get stuck at low refresh rates when browsing videos, endless flashing/sync issues with some games/loading screens, etc. Effectively you want to update the image as fast as possible but they don't do that, they often take the full frame time to do so, blink backlight in middle of it and then you get crosstalk by seeing part of new frame partially transitioned and remains of previous frame. Even on C27HG70 that has strobing illumination done in at least 4 vertical parts if not all 8 zones had crap ton of crosstalk because as always manufacturers don't care to calibrate the timing right and don't want to give users the option to adjust it themselves, only BenQ has a 3rd party app for it. Crosstalk is caused by strobing too early (or even too late) before the image had a chance to transition.
